Fall yard waste in Anaheim doesn't look like fall yard waste in the rest of the country. Ours is palm fronds. Old queen palms, Mexican fans, and king palms drop massive fronds every October and November — often 8–12 feet long — and they don't fit in the green bin the way maple leaves do. Anaheim residents get a free green organics cart with weekly pickup. According to the city's recycling and waste page, the cart accepts:

What It Doesn't Cover — and What to Do Instead
- Large palm fronds (over 4 feet)
- Tree stumps and thick logs
- Storm-blown branches over 4 inches thick
- Large brush piles from full tree removals
- Rocks, dirt, sod, and landscape debris
- Landscape rock, pavers, and concrete

The Santa Ana Wind Problem
October Santa Anas are the reason we get so many yard-cleanup calls this time of year. A 60mph gust snaps palm fronds, breaks eucalyptus branches, and blows lawn furniture halfway down the block. Fire Season Matters Too
Piled brush and dry palm fronds are fuel. During red flag warnings, don't stockpile yard debris on the property — get it hauled. Cal Fire's defensible space guidelines specifically call out yard debris as a preventable fire risk.
